Task

Image result for simple floor plan

For this assignment you will have to prove you have the math skills an architect needs to be successful. You will need to show your knowledge of perimeter and area of the home and the rooms. You will also have to show your ability to stay in a set budget for the whole project. Your floor plan should include at least a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, and at least one bedroom. You can add more if you stay within your budget. You can add more rooms, a fence, a pool or anything else you think the owner of the house would like. You have a budget of $10,000 and it is $4 for each square foot. In your final project you will include the total area and perimeter of the house and for each individual room.

Process

Step 1: Review your understanding of area and perimeter using math playground. https://www.mathplayground.com/area_perimeter.html

Make sure you do all 10 questions and get at least 8 correct if not try again.

Step 2: Use graph paper to sketch out your idea. Assume each square is a foot. Remember you must have at least a kitchen, living room, bathroom and a bedroom. You can add more if the budget allows. Which is $10,000 with each square foot costing $4.

Step 3: After you have made your floor plan work for the budget and all the criteria is meet go to Room Sketcher and make your floor plan. https://planner.roomsketcher.com/#

Step 4: Once you have completed making your floor plan print a copy. Make sure you include the area and perimeter of the total house and each room. Also include how much money you spent out of the budget.
