In this WebQuest, you'll embark on a journey to discover the amazing world of nutrition. You'll learn about the essential nutrients your body needs, the importance of balanced meals, and how to make smart food choices that power up your health.

By the end, you'll be a nutrition superhero, armed with the knowledge to create delicious and healthy meals, and ready to share your super skills with your friends and family. Let's get started on this epic adventure!

Task

By the end of this WebQuest, you’ll be able to:

  • Understand the importance of healthy eating habits for overall health and well-being.
  • Identify essential nutrients and the key components of a balanced diet.
Process

Step 1: Read & take notes

  • Read the following article: "What are the benefits of eating healthy?"
  • After reading, write down at least 5 benefits of eating healthy.

Step 2: Exploring essential nutrients

  • Watch the following video: "Essential Nutrients"
  • List down the essential nutrients that are needed for our body
  • Write at least one food source for each nutrient.

Step 3: Know about the meal plans

  • Watch the following video: "Healthy Resolutions | MyPlate"

Step 4: Understand what a balanced diet is

  • Read the following article: "What exactly is a balanced meal?"
  1. Define what is a balanced meal.
  2. Indicate the importance of each food group to the health.

Step 5: Activity

  • Sort the following food into their food groups.

Reminder: The food groups are Fruits, vegetables, dairy products, grains, proteins.

Step 6: Test your knowledge

  • Answer the following questions:
  1. What are the main food groups?
  2. Name three essential nutrients and their roles in the body.
  3. Why is it important to include fruits and vegetables in your diet?
  4. List one food source for each of the following nutrients: Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fats.

Knowledge assessment

Scores 90-100% on the quiz, shows excellent understanding of the material.

Scores 75%-89% on the quiz, shows good understanding. Scores 60-74% on the quiz, shows satisfactory understanding. Scores below 60% on the quiz, shows limited understanding
