The Importance of Understanding Prefixes and Suffixes

Introduction

Prefixes and suffixes are word parts that are added to a root word to change the meaning. Prefixes are added to the beginning of a word, while suffixes are added at the end of a word. Understanding prefixes and suffixes helps expand vocabulary and improve comprehension.

Task

1. Define the meaning of prefixes and suffixes.

2. Define the functions of prefixes and suffixes.

3. List examples of both a prefix and a suffix, and explain how they change a root word.

Process

Choose ten words and add a different prefix to one, then with those same ten words without the prefix, add a suffix to each one. Once you have listed those 20 words, define the meaning of each.
