Introduction
Sports and athletes are very popular in the United States. Everywhere you look there is a sport advertised. Whether it is a t-shirt or other clothing, tv, radio, billboards, vehicles, flags, and houses, sports teams are everywhere. Lots of people like to participate and/or be a spectator for a wide variety of sports. Several kids dream of being the good athlete that plays varsity for the high school team, college or even proffessionally. Do any of you? But not everyone can make it to those levels. Several great doctors, coaches, physical therapists and trainers were once athletes. They are still able to participate in the sport they love and be part of the team.
If you were injured today, who would you see? A Doctor. If you did not need surgery, where would the Dr. send you? A physical therapist and/or trainer. The physical therapist and trainer are very important part of a athlete's ability to get back into the game. Do you have the knowledge to help the star player get back into the game?

P.E. teacher will assign students into groups of three. Your group will be a team of physical trainers (PT) for a baskeball team. Each group will select a different collegiate or professional basketball team, there cannot be any duplicates. One team can choose the men's team and a different team can choose the women's team from the same college. Your group will be know by the team you choose. Each team will research knee stegthening exercises and/ or therapy. You will create a workout for your player to strengthen his or her knee and get him or her back to playing basketball. You must be able to describe and demonstrate three strength exercises.
Each team will research basketball drills that will allow the athlete to work back into playing full time. You must be able to describe and demonstrate three appropriate baskeball drills.
Your team will create a video that describes and demonstrate each strengthening exercise and basketball drill.

Conclusion
After researching the star player, strengthening exercises and basketball drills, each student should have a "real world" understanding of what a physical trainer does. There is a lot of work and dedication to be successful rehabilitating a star athlete back to health. You should have a clear understanding of how important it is to study and know how to research topics.
The next time you see an athlete get injured playing sports, you will have a better understanding of what it takes to get the athlete healthy and playing their sport again.
