Introduction
Welcome, future ICT experts!
Have you ever wondered what’s inside the computer you use every day? In this activity, you'll explore the essential parts of a computer, both hardware and software—and discover how they all work together. Get ready to investigate, collaborate, and create!
Task
Your task is to create a group digital presentation (e.g., infographic or PowerPoint) that identifies and explains the basic parts of a computer. You will also describe the function of each part and how they interact in performing basic computing tasks. Be creative, informative, and clear!
Process
Follow these steps to complete the task:
Step 1: Form a Group
Get into groups of 3–4 members.
Step 2: Watch and Read
Visit and explore the resources provided (see "Resources" section). Focus on identifying the following parts:
- System Unit
- Motherboard
- CPU
- RAM
- Hard Drive
- Power Supply
- Monitor
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Software (Operating System & Applications)
.
.
Step 3: Divide the Work
Assign each group member specific parts to research and explain.
Step 4: Gather Information
Use the resources to find definitions, images, and the role/function of each part. Take notes!
Step 5: Create Your Presentation
As a group, organize your findings into a visual presentation using PowerPoint, Canva, or any infographic tool. Include:
-
Name and image of the part
-
Function or purpose
-
Make short explanation of how it connects to other components
Step 6: Review the Rubric
Check the “Evaluation” section to understand how your work will be graded. Make sure your project meets all the criteria.
Step 7: Present Your Work
Prepare to present your group’s work to the class or submit your digital file to the platform as instructed.
Evaluation
Your project will be graded based on the rubric below:
| Criteria | Excellent (5) | Good (4) | Fair (3) | Needs Improvement (1–2) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Content Accuracy | All parts correctly identified and explained | Most parts correct | Some inaccuracies | Many errors |
| Organization & Clarity | Clear, logical, and easy to follow | Mostly clear | Some parts confusing | Poorly organized |
| Visual Design | Very engaging and creative | Clear and organized | Basic visuals | Unattractive layout |
| Group Collaboration | Excellent teamwork | Good cooperation | Some issues | Minimal teamwork |
| Presentation or Submission | On time, complete, well-presented | Complete but late or unpolished | Missing minor elements | Incomplete |
Conclusion
You’ve now explored what makes a computer work from the inside out. Understanding the function and relationship of each part will help you not only in ICT but in navigating and mastering digital tools in everyday life. Technology is constantly evolving, stay curious, and keep exploring!
