Introduction
What motivates you to have good grades? Are you self-motivated, or is there another reason you want to have good grades? Ivan Pavlov used his dogs as subjects to investigate his theory of Behaviorism. Cognitive Psychology was investigated when people began feeling dissatisfied with Behaviorism. Social Cognitive Theory initially emerged as Social Learning Theory, emphasizing learning through modeling and observation.
Each of you has a different learning style and reasoning behind why you do what you do. Psychology is an important part of life, and today, we will explore three of those theories.
Task
For this lesson, you will be required to make a poster on one of the three theories: Behaviorism, Cognitive Psychology, and Social Cognitive Theory. I have assigned the groups of four. After presenting the posters the following day, you will be required to write a one-page paper explaining the differences between the three theories.
Process
1. Get in your assigned groups of 4.
- Pick the writer/designer for your group and decide how you will present the poster. Each student must have a part. The writer/designer will create the poster. I will have an example of one on the board.
2. The writer/designer will draw a theory from a jar, which will be the theory for your poster.
3. Watch the YouTube video that references your chosen theory:

- https://youtu.be/wJJ4O5WJTRU?si=LGzNwJPO8bf7lE5E Cognitive Psychology
4. Be sure to read the chapter in the textbook as well for more information.
5. Your poster should include relevant pictures, charts, drawings, etc., and the key principles as well. Please also include an example of how this theory contributes to learning.
6. Create your poster by using my sample or something similar.
7. Have fun & practice presenting your poster for tomorrow.
8. After the presentations, each of you will write a one-page paper explaining the differences between the three theories. Pay attention to the presentations and take notes if it helps.
