Introduction
Have you ever wondered how you learn something new? We’re going to figure out the different ways people learn by playing a quick sorting game.
Cognitive Psychology: Learning happens by thinking, solving problems, or remembering things.
Behaviorism: Learning happens when we get rewards or consequences for what we do.
Social Cognitive Theory: Learning happens by watching others and believing we can do it too.
Task
In this activity, you will read examples and sort them into three groups. Then, you will explain your choices, share with the class, and answer a few questions on your own.
Process
Step 1: Introduction (5 minutes)
• Listen as the teacher explains the three theories of learning.
Step 2: Sorting Activity (15 minutes)
• In pairs or groups, read each example card.
• Decide together which theory it matches: Cognitive, Behaviorism, or Social Cognitive.
• Place the cards on the sorting chart under the correct column.
Step 3: Group Reflection (10 minutes)
• Complete the Group Reflection Sheet:
• Pick 3 examples and explain why you sorted them the way you did.
• Write down any disagreements your group had and how you solved them.
Step 4: Class Discussion (10 minutes)
• Share one example your group discussed.
• Listen to other groups and compare answers.
Step 5: Individual Reflection (10 minutes)
• Answer the Individual Reflection Questions quietly on your own.
