Investigating Climate Change: Cause, Effect, and Action

Introduction

Have you ever wondered why summers are getting hotter or why typhoons seem stronger? Climate change is no longer just a theory—it's happening all around us. In this WebQuest, you will become a climate scientist and investigate how climate change affects the Earth and what we can do about it. You’ll explore real data, powerful stories, and global responses to help you understand and take action.

Task

Your team will create an interactive presentation that explains:

  • What causes climate change

  • How it affects the planet (weather, oceans, biodiversity)

  • Its impact on people and communities, especially in the Philippines

  • Possible solutions or actions we can take

Your final product will be a Google Slides or Canva presentation with images, graphs, short video clips, and a 2-minute oral explanation. You’ll present it to the class as part of our “Climate Awareness Campaign Week.”

Process
  1. Form your team (3–4 members).

  2. Choose your roles:

    • Researcher (gathers scientific information)

    • Visual Designer (creates visuals and slide layout)

    • Communicator (writes and narrates content)

    • Analyst (connects data to real-world impacts)

  3. Explore the resources listed below to gather information.

  4. Create your slides:

    • Slide 1: Title + team members

    • Slide 2–3: Causes of climate change

    • Slide 4–5: Effects on the environment

    • Slide 6–7: Effects on human life (e.g., disasters, agriculture)

    • Slide 8: Solutions or actions (global and local)

    • Slide 9: Reflection: What did your group learn?

  5. Submit your presentation link and prepare to present it in class.
