HIGH SCHOOL IN MEXICO

Introduction

¡Buenos días! You have just won a scholarship to attend high school in Spain! As we learn more of the Spanish language, it is also very important that we also learn more about this Spanish speaking country. Let’s travel through Spain and gather some information and facts that will help when you start high school there!

Task

THE TASK
The following tasks must be accomplished:
o Choose one school to attend.
o Explain why you chose that particular school.
o Describe what you will be learning at school.
o Find cities in Spain you would like to visit.
o Find the weather for those cities and a sight to see in each one.
o Search for new travel vocabulary that will be useful when traveling to a Spanish
speaking country.
o Answer some general questions about Spain.
o Turn in all of the information requested along with pictures of your findings

Process

You have just won a scholarship to attend high school in Spain. Visit the website of each of the
four high schools before making your decision about which one to attend. Then answer the
following questions on a separate paper:

1) Which school do you want to attend? (choose one)


2) Explain why you want to attend this school. Give at least three reasons for choosing
your school. (location, curriculum, activities)
3) Describe what you will be learning and doing at this school. (classes, extra-curricular’s,
sports, etc.)
Complete the chart on the reverse page with the answers to #’s 4-7
4) What cities do you want to visit? (choose four)
5) What is today’s weather in each of those cities?
6) What tourist attraction would you visit there?
7) How much will it cost to go to the attraction?

During your flight would be a perfect time to practice your Spanish. Learn four new words or
phrases you could use during your trip. (These must be new and not from your class
vocabulary)

Now that you have searched for information on your chosen cities and some vocabulary, look
for the answers to the following questions:

1) What is the capital city of Spain?
2) How many people live in Spain?
3) What country is Spain’s neighbor to the west? To the north?
4) What are tapas? Name three popular tapas.
5) Which tapa would you want to try? Why?

Evaluation

EVALUATION

You will be graded as follows:
o School choice and information: 10 points
o Four cities, weather, tourist site for each: 32 points
o Four new vocabulary words/expression: 8 points
o Answers to the five additional questions: 5 points
o Photos of tourists sites, foods, etc (copy and paste into one slide or word
document): 10 points
