Theories of Learning - How Do We Learn?

Introduction

Imagine you're a teacher trying to help your students. What do you do? Do you reward them for their effort, guide them through mental strategies, or model the behavior you want to see? Each of these reflects a different theory. Which one would you choose?

    • Highlights each key theorist
    • Provides classroom examples
    • Compares and contrasts the theories

  1. Research Stage: Use provided links and credible sources to gather information. Focus on definitions, key figures, and classroom applications

  3. Review & Reflect: Peer review another classmate's work and allow them to review yours.

Depth of Analysis Demonstrates a deep understanding and comparisons of all three theories. Shows good understanding with some analysis and comparison. Basic understanding with limited analysis. Minimal understanding; not much analysis or comparison.
Creativity & Presentation Extremely creative, engaging, and well-organized presentation. Creative and organized; visually appealing. Some creativity; organization is adequate. Lacks creativity; disorganized or hard to follow.
Reflection & Higher-Order Thinking Thoughtful reflection with insightful, higher-level questions and applications. Includes reflection and some higher-level thinking. Basic reflection; limited higher-order thinking. Little/no reflection or critical thinking evident.
