A Tropical rainforest is an area where there is an aboundent amount of rainfall. A rainforest occurs in roughly 28 degrees latitudes north and south of the equator. For an area to be considered a rainforest it needs to have an annual rainfall of at or over 75 inches of rain a year. Most of rainforests are in central or south america, But over time most of central america's rainforests have been cleared for cattle and sugar plantations. The Amazon rainforest is the worlds largest rainforest with 1/5 of the worlds plant and bird species can be found their. The congo in africa is the world's second largest rainforest. The average tempeture in a rainforest is 80 degrees F. Their are two types of rainforests Temperate and tropical. tropical is what we have been talking about. temperate mostly occours in the pacific northwest of the USA.
