The Water Cycle Adventures

Introduction

Have you ever wondered how water moves around the planet, where rain comes from, or even what happens to water after it falls to the ground? Today, you will water cycle explorers and uncover the secrets behind Evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection. By the end of this exploration, you will be able to answer the following Guided Questions:

- What are the stages of the water cycle?

- How does the sun's energy affect the water cycle?

-Why is the water cycle important to life on Earth?

( Florida State Standard: SC.4.E.6.4 Describe the basic processes in the water cycle, including evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection)

Blooms Taxonomy Alignment:

-Understand: Explain the stages of the water cycle

- Apply: Create a presentation demonstrating the water cycle process

-Evaluate: Analyze how human activities can impact the water cycle

Task

For this assignment, you and your team will put together a project board or a PowerPoint presentation demonstrating the stages of the water cycle. Each group will have different responsibilities to complete the project effectively. Your presentation should have:

-An illustrated diagram of the water cycle ( evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection)

- A written description of each stage

- An example of how the water cycle affects weather patterns

- Fun facts or some things you found interesting about water on Earth

Process

First form groups of 4 students. Each member will take on a different role:

- Illustrator to design a labeled water cycle diagram

- 2 Researchers to gather facts about each stage of the water cycle

- The writer creates the script for the group and helps the presentation go smoothly

-Tech Specialist to put all the information together and ensure smooth transitions for PowerPoint

Second research the water cycle using the following resources:

-Watch this interactive water cycle video;https://gpm.nasa.gov/education/videos/water-cycle

-Read about the water cycle; https://www.epa.gov/water-research/water-cycle

Third create your PowerPoint or project board

-To create a PowerPoint you can use Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides but be sure to add images, and transitions, and cite your work

- For project boards please use a trifold or project board be sure to make it colorful, add pictures, and cite your evidence

Fourth rehearse and present your project

-Be sure each slide is complete and review it as a group, go through your script to ensure a smooth presentation, and be sure to check the rubric.

Evaluation
Your project will be graded based on the following rubric:
Criteria Excellent (10pts)

Good(8pts)

Needs Improvement

(5pts)

Incomplete  (0pts)

Content Accuracy

All stages correctly explained in great detail Most stages are explained correctly  Some stages missing or incorrect Little to no accurate content
Visuals and Creativity Well-designed slides with engaging visuals  Good visuals but needs more creativity Basic visuals, not well organized  No visuals or organization
Narration and Presentation Clear, engaged, and well-paced. Mostly clear. with minor mistakes Hard to understand at times Not prepared and a lot of mistakes
Team Collaboration Every member contributed effectively  Most members contributed  some members did not participate No collaboration or teamwork

Conclusion

Congratulations, water cycle explorers! You have successfully navigated through the evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection process. Now think about how you can conserve water and protect this essential resource for the future.
