Introduction
Welcome to The Freedom Writers webquest! I'm guessing you have an interest in The Freedom Writers since you came to my webquest! The Freedom Writers is about some high school students who think they have no future but a new teacher changes their lives. Hopefully you will learn a lot and enjoy!
Task
In the webquest, you will complete three different assignments. The first assignment is watching the movie and answering some questions so you can make sure you know what the movie is about and what happens. The second assignment is finding out your hero. I would like you to find out who your hero is so you can see who inspires you in your life. And the last assignment is to compare your hero to the students in the movie's hero to understand that there are different types of heroes for different types of people.
Process
Assignment #1:
Watch The Freedom Writers movie. Make sure to take notes during the movie so you can answer questions about the movie next.
Answer the following questions:
-What is the teacher's name?
-Where is the school located? What is it's name?
-What are the students' attitudes like in the beginning of the movie?
-What happenes with the teacher and her husband?
-What are the students' attutudes like in the end of the movie?
-How does the movie end?

Think about who is a hero to you and write down all ideas that come to mind.
Once you have all ideas down, use the process of elimination. (Hint: Who inspires you?)
Either take a picture or draw a picture of your hero.
Write a 4-6 sentence paragraph about why they are your hero (Include things they have done for you, what they have done that is hero-like, etc.).
Assignment #3
Create a venn diagram with The Freedom Writers teacher on one side and your hero on the other.
Write 4 sentences about how the two are alike then 4 sentences about how they are different. Be sure to include many details. When finished, combine the 8 sentences to create a paragraph.
Evaluation
Assignment #1:
Watching the movie is 3 points.
Each question is 2 points creating a total of 15 points.
Assignment #2:
Reading the article is 2 points.
Finding a hero is 1 point.
Taking/drawing a picture with your hero is 1 point.
Writing a paragraph is 10 points creating a total of 15 points.
Assignment #3:
The venn diagram is 5 points.
Writing a paragraph is 10 points creating a total of 15 points.
Conclusion
