What is photosynthesis?

Introduction

Photosynthesis converts light energy into the chemical energy of sugars and other organic compounds. this process consists of a series of chemical reactions that require carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) and store chemical energy in the form of sugar. Light energy from light drives the reactions. Oxygen (O2) is a byproduct of photosynthesis and is released into the atmosphere.

Task

Your task is to create a powerpoint presentation about photosythesis.

Process

The powerpoint presentation should include the following:

  • slide 1: Title page
  • slide 2: photosynthesis definition
  • slide 3: diagram of photosynthesis
  • slide 4: importance of photosynthesis
Evaluation

Question: How will i be graded on my powerpoint presentation?

Answer: I will use the following grade rubric:

  • Creativity 25%
  • Organization 25%
  • Spelling/Grammar 25%
  • Overall presentation 25%
Conclusion

Why is photosynthesis so impotant?

First of all, without plants the entire food chain or more accurately the food web will lose its foundation. All  animals (including us humans) ultimately depend on plants material either directly, or indirectly through their herbivore prey. Think of the next time you sprinkle a teaspoon of sugar, or drink a glass of milk, or eat a chicken sandwich. All require one type of plant or another! On top of the, all animals require the oxygen released by plants. Without continual photosynthesis, the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere would slowly diminish.
