Anarchism

Introduction

Anarchism. Is it possible for this infamous, controversial system of Government, in which the Government is abolished completely, to function properly in a nation? Many people believe so, but most of our population thinks not. Usually when we hear "Anarchism", we think of fire, broken glass, crime, and utter chaos. However, anarchists believe that Anarchy can result in a utopia where people are self reliant and truly free, a nation where people are free to defend themselves from criminals, a nation where people produce their own resources, a nation where people can do what they want. It sounds like a nice idea, until you think about it more. Who will maintain the roads and electricity? What about the massive influx of criminals that will inevitably happen? Who will punish the wrong and defend the right? Is it really worth it to abandon all the technical progress we've made to go back to a primitive state of living with no rules? Could this system be implemented in any nation on the Earth, or is it just an insane, unrealistic idea?

Task

Using Link #2 and Link #3 of the resources listed below, acknowledge both authors' points and write a five paragraph Argumentative Essay addressing three (3) reasons of why Anarchism will/wouldn't work in any nation. Also, address one point from the thesis you disagree with and write one (1) counterargument against that certain point. Your essay should also include a brief introduction to what Anarchism is and a history of it.

Process

Research Anarchism on Link #1. After getting a decent understanding of what Anarchism is and it's history, write an introductory paragraph summarizing your research. For paragraphs 2-3, use Link #2 and Link #3 to form three points on whether or not Anarchism can work. Link #2 being the thesis that supports Anarchism, Link #3 is the opposite. Paragraph 4 is the counterargument of your essay. Pick one point from the thesis you disagree with and refute it completely. Paragraph 5 is your conclusion, close your statement and summarize your argument.
