The Biome Exploration Vacation

Introduction

CONGRATULATIONS! You and your partner have won an exploration vacation around the world! You will be taking a fun-filled adventure while exploring the biomes of the world! As you travel around the world, you will log information about each biome in your Exploration Vacation Journal. At the conclusion of your trip, you will pick whichever biome you liked the most and present a PowerPoint presentation that will include fun facts and characteristics about your biome. Have a fun trip around the world!

Task

As you take your vacation around the world, record information about each biome in your Exploration Vacation Journal.

When you come back from your exploration, you will use the information you collected from your journal to create a KEYNOTE.

  • You and your partner will decide on one biome that you both enjoyed.
  • The specifications for this presentation will be under the Process  tab.
  • Remember, this is an exploration vacation! Have fun!

Process

Task 1

Before you leave on your exploration, you need to know where you are going! For your trip, you will be going to 5 different biomes around the world.

  • In your Exploration Vacation Journal list each biome you will be visiting and draw a picture representing each biome. Use the pictures on the website as an example.
    • Be sure to use color in you pictures

Task 2

Once you become familiar with where you'll be going, it's time to getting started on the adventure! The first place you will be visiting are the grasslands!

  • Record 4 interesting facts about grasslands in your Exploration Vacation Journal.

Evaluation

Conclusion

Fantastic! You have done an awesome job! You traveled and explored different biomes of the world! You have learned many new things while on your trip! You were even able to present a biome to others! As you wrap up this experience, think about the following questions:

  • What was the coolest fact you learned about biomes?
  • If you could choose to live in any biome which would you choose?
  • Do you think you could convince your family to take a trip to the biome you presented?
  • If you could make up your own biome what would it be?
