Cognitive Phycology, Behaviorism, and Social Cognitive Theory.

Introduction

Today, we will be learning about Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism, and Social Cognitive theory. We will be learning the differences, as well as the background of each one. We will be making a chart to know the difference between each one. Canva is going to be a good tool for this.

Cognitive Psychology:

Cognitive Psychology is the scientific study of how the human brain works, including how people think, learn, and process information. It studies mental processes such as attention, memory, consciousness, perception, language, problem-solving, and learning. Ulric Neisser is the founder of cognitive psychology. It became a thing in the 1960s when Neisser published a book about cognitive psychology.

Behaviorism:

Behaviorism is a psychological theory that states that all human behavior is learned through conditioning, which is a process of reinforcement and punishment. It is focused on how people interact with the environment and how the interactions lead to certain behaviors. It assumes that all behaviors are learned. It was popularized in the 20th century by John B. Watson and B.F. Skinner.

Social Cognitive Theory:

Social Cognitive Theory is a model that explains how people learn behaviors through a dynamic interaction between personal factors, environmental influences, and their behavior. It is primarily developed by Albert Bandura. It has an emphasis on observational learning and the concept of self-efficacy. This means when you watch someone, you learn what they do.

Task

Today, your task will be to create a Venn diagram discussing the differences and similarities between these three different processes. You can use the facts from the introduction, but you are also highly encouraged to do your own research. There should be at least 5-10 different things under each, and about 2-5 similarities between the three. I have made a Canva for you to use. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRKMzGp2BLfYNbXVfJcH0KC6ygpQiAozwDy3V5KMf09zBL9PUpuzncYMNnX3MLhWR7Zcx0XdEZ72kzA/pub. If you would not like to use this template, by all means, look on Canva, fit one to your needs and use it.

Process

When using Canva:

1. Go to Canva. Type in the search bar and say, "comparing and contrasting three different ideas." This should give you some kind of template like the one I picked out.

2. Tailor it to your needs! Make sure there are at least three different subject lines. Make sure to add Social Cognitive theory, behaviorism, and Cognitive psychology.

3. When finished adding each of the attributes, facts, and similarities to each subject, download and send it to me so we can print it out.

If using my template:

1.  For this, you will need to print it out. You can come to me, and we can do it together.

2. You will need to write on each bubble the facts, attributes, and similarities. If you need more room, feel free to write on the back or staple a piece of paper to the back.

Each subject should have at least 5-10 good facts and attributes. For the similarities, there should be 2-5.

Here are some cites to use. Feel free to find some of your own.

Conclusion

How did you feel about this assignment?

Did you enjoy it?

Was it easy or hard?

From your research on these three topics, start to look around and realize how you can use this from day to day.  If you are going to go into a field that requires this, you will be one step ahead on how to fix these things.
