Task

Today, we are preparing for "college." College can mean something different to each of you. For some, college might mean that you are attending a university in the fall. For others, college might mean that you will go to community college or technical school after graduation. Still, others might be looking for on the job training. For whatever path you are planning to take, we need to start preparing now.
Objectives:
1. Create an FSA ID.
2. Apply to Southern Union
3. Apply to "College" by using your checklist
4. Begin applying for scholarships
5. Register for the ACT/Check Transcript/Update Resume
Process
Create an FSA ID
Step 1: Create an FSA ID by logging on to fsaid.ed.gov.
Step 2: Write your FSA ID down and keep it in a safe place.
Step 3: Help your parent/guardian create an FSA ID.
Step 4: Attend the FAFSA workshop on November 7.
Evaluation

Step 1: Click here.
Step 2: Click apply now.
Step 3: Create an account.
Step 4: Apply.
Step 5: Print your completed application and place in your portfolio.
Step 6: Give your picture ID to Mrs. McElvy.
Conclusion

Things to remember when applying:
1. Always check the admissions requirements to make sure you qualify.
2. Fill out the undergraduate application. Graduate students are those that have already received a bachelors degree.
3. Be grammatically correct including capitalization of your name, address, etc.
These schools have waived their application fee for this week. Only apply if you are truly interested in attending these colleges or universities.

Remember to apply for institution scholarships first. Some have Dec. 1 deadlines. Never give out your social security number.

Resume
1. Log onto your student gmail account.
2. Pull up your resume on Google Docs.
3. Update it to reflect your senior year activities.
4. Print a copy and put in your portfolio.
Register for the ACT if you wish to take the December 9 ACT
1. Go to actstudent.org
2. Login or create an account
3. If you have only ever taken it at school, you need to see Mrs. McElvy to get your ACT ID.
4. Fee waivers are available for certain students. See Mrs. McElvy to see if you qualify.
5. Print your ticket.
Check your Transcript.
1. Using the sheet provided check to ensure that you have taken all your needed classes.
2. Sign and date this sheet at the bottom.
3. Put the documents into your portfolio.

Today is the last day to register for the December 10 ACT. With this administration you can get a copy of the test, an answer key, and your answers for $20.00.

Check Transcript
Please check your transcript to ensure that you are eligible to graduate. Make certain that you have had the following courses:
- 4 Years of English (Must be: English 9, 10, 11, 12)
- 4 years of Math (A Combination of: Algebra I, Algebra IA, Algebra IB, Geometry, Algebra II, Algebra II with Trig, Pre-Calculas, Math 112, Career Math, Math 116)
- 4 Years of Social Studies (World History, US History -1877, US History 1877-Present, Government, Economics)
- Biology
- Physical Science
- 2 Years of Science (Environmental Science, Physics, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Earth and Space Science)
- Health/Family Wellness (.5 credit)
- Career Prep
- LIFE PE
- Spanish I, Spanish II, Chemistry or Physics for Advanced Academic Endoresement
- 3 credits in the same Career Tech Program for Career Technical Endorsement
- 24 Total Credits
- If you do not have all of these classes make sure that you are enrolled in them currently
