Complementary Colors.
What are they? How can we identify them on a color wheel or a piece of art?

These are all questions you will be thinking about as you explore the different pairs of complementary colors. We will learn about the importance of how artists convey an idea or mood using these colors. The goal is to eventually recognize complementary colors in various forms of artwork and in everyday life.

Task

The Task

You will form a group of three students, and choose a set of complementary colors from the list below. You will then research how artists use your chosen set of complementary colors to convey a mood or idea. After researching your color set, be sure to create an informative Google slide about your colors, and  fill out the Google Form.

Complementary Color Pairs:

  1. Red Green

  2. Yellow Purple

  3. Blue Orange

The Process

  1. First You will be placed in groups of 3

  2. Pick a set of complementary colors (Red Green, Yellow Purple, Blue Orange)

  3. Then, familiarize yourself with the term Complementary Colors

  4. Research how each pair of colors are used to convey a mood or idea

  5. Create a Google slide for your pair of complementary colors

  6. Include an example of artwork along with a description of how the colors are conveying
    a mood or idea in your chosen image

  7. Turn in your slide for an individual grade Here!

  8. Then fill out the Google Form as a group and turn in

  9. Have Fun!
