You have just finished reading two selections from Collections 1. The two-story selections were "My Favorite Chaperone" and "The Latehomecomer" This past weekend we have been working on our assignment sheet 3 collections. What are some information you were able to pull out of the ELA text as we've worked on our projects in class? How does this tie to our standards and theme of the reading selections?
Task

Your assignment is to understand the author's purpose for both reading selections.

Discuss how both authors connect theme-cultural/belonging. (You must cite and make reflections for BOTH reading selections)

You must include and explain figurative language utilized in BOTH reading selections.

Create images to represent BOTH authors' message.
Process

Author's purpose for both selections: The student will write in their interactive notebooks and provide 2-3 paragraphs on each reading selection.

Discuss how both authors connect theme-Cultural/Belonging(Cite and make reflections):Pair up (No more than 5 in a group) to discuss theme. Citing and reflections will go into Interactive Notebook.

Include and explain figurative language utilized in both reading selections: Create a chart in your Interactive Notebook on figurative languages. Consisting of: Simile, Metaphor, Hyperbole, Personification, Alliteration, Onomatophobia.

Create images to represent both authors' message: Images may be hand drawn BUT must have COLOR. If printed please add onto poster (Size may vary)
Conclusion
So, when we discuss about Collection 1 everyone should have a firm grasp on the connections of the two reading selections to Culture/Belonging and how they tie to our standards.
