Basics of the Spanish language (Learning Objectives 1.2 and 1.3)

Introduction

Now that we have spent some time getting to know about the culture of Spain, it is important to learn some basics about the language.  This WebQuest lesson is a beginner's lesson of the Spanish language, starting with the alphabet.  This alphabet includes the following 30 letters:

 

These letters, just like in the English language, are the building blocks to the words of the language.  They must first be learned before translations and definitions can be added into mix.

Now that was a very fun way of learning the alphabet! It is time for some fun practice to see how well your are comprehending this new language.  Please follow the link below to play a very simple Spanish spelling game.  It will help you get more familiar with the Spanish alphabet.

Process

Alphabet Scavenger Hunt

Directions: Choose a student partner to complete this scavenger hunt.  Since there are 30 letters in the Spanish alphabet, each student can equally participate by dividing the alphabet in half, each taking 15 letters.  Find an image online that represents each letter.  Paste the image in a Word document, along with the Spanish letter it represents.  The Spanish name of the image or object should also be included.  Once complete, email the scavenger, hunt with both students names, to the following email address: darnell.benson@trinitychristianschool.cc.
