Introduction

To most people who live in wealthy countries, water is one of the most basic human rights, but this is not the case for millions of people, especially those in developing countries. Each day, they have to deal with the problems associated with unsafe drinking water, and of us who live in developed countries, we do not know what tragedy they are going through. 

Today, I am sending you on a Web Quest to find more information about water inequality and prove that we are lucky to live in such a beautiful country.

Task

I will give you a number of questions you may like to answer. In 'Process' there are some links to websites that will help you solve the question.

3.1. How many hospital beds are there in the world (2002 statistics)?

3.2 Half of the hospital beds in the world are occupied by patients suffering from diseases associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene. Now that you know how many hospitals there are roughly in the world, how many are occupied by these patients?

4.1 What percentage of microfinance loans prove successful and are repaid?

4.2 What causes 50% of water projects to fail?

5.1 What is the world's leading cause of infection?

5.2 Approximately how many people on our planet have no facilities to ensure hygienic separation of humans from their own exreta?
