Cyber-Etiquette

Introduction

You and your Loofy Friends are about to uncover the rules of Cyber-Etiquette. Along your journey you will be faced with many fun and exciting obstacles.  Be sure to follow the path that has been provided for your group.  Work together as a team to accomplish the end goal becoming Cyber-Smart while using Cyber-Etiquette.

Task

Loofies!! look for hidden information in the online activities they complete.  While exploring the five pre-selected sites you and your group members will find at least 5 rules of etiquette and 5 ways to keep yourselves safe from those pesky cyber-badguys.

You and your Loofy friends will:

  • Investigate each of the 5 pre-selected sites by either completing the game or watching the videos.
  • Find at least 1 rule of etiquette or 1 cyber-safety tip, per resource, by completing the task found at each site.
  • Write your answers in the provided chart.
  • Vote on which site you and your Super Snooper Friends found the most interesting and useful.
Process

You will work in a group of three.  You will follow the steps below to complete the WebQuest:

1. Carefully read each step below to make sure you and friends know what is expected for completing the quest.

2.  Open the document file and fill out the chart using the computer, or print a copy of the chart to log your findings along the quest.

3.  As a group decide how you will navigate through the WebQuest resources below.  You can take turns using the controls, completing the activities and writing your groups responses.

4.  Click on each link in the resource section below and you will be immediately directed to the pre-selected site where you can begin collecting rules for cyber-etiquette and cyber-safety tips.

5.  When at the CyberSense site you need to click on the red words "Start Game".  This will allow the activity to begin.  

6.  Complete the Cyber-Etiquette Log either by computer or as a print copy.  Make sure to print a completed copy if filled out using the computer, then turn it into your teacher.

7.  Complete the Voting Form to vote on which resources your group found the most useful.  Print a copy and turn it into your teacher.

Evaluation
The work you and your Super Snooper Friends do to complete the WebQuest, and the usefullness of the rules and tips you find will be evaluated by the following guidelines:

Conclusion

You and your Super Snooper Friends have successfully completed the Cyber-Etiquette WebQuest.  By working through each of the five pre-selected sites you have started building skills in the areas of online etiquette and online safety.  

  • You have learned at least 5 rules of etiquette you can use to show respect to those you communicate with online.
  • You have learned at least 5 safety tips for safely navigating various sites while online.

Congratulations!  You are now a Cyber Smart Super Snooper that can navigate respectfully and safely in the online world.
