Continents and Oceans

Introduction

We have been studying continents and oceans of the world.  Now, it is time for you to apply that newly learned information and plan your trip!

Task

You will work in groups of 4 to plan your trip.  You will work together to plan where you will go, what you will do, and what you will likely encounter in your destination.

As a group, you will record the specific name of your destination: city, country, and continent.  Based on the information you learn during your webquest, your group will record information about the weather of your destination and specify what you should pack to wear based on this information.  You will pick your specific destination and time of year of your trip.  Your group will also write about the language of your destination and research some useful phrases in that language.  The group will also decide on at least 3 sites of interest to visit on your trip.  You will write about these places and why they are important to your specific destination.

Process

Each group member will assume a different role:

1. Navigator: will locate the destination on a map, noting ita surrounding oceans, countries, continent, etc.

2. Linguist: will inform the group of the language that is spoken in the chosen destination. The linguist will help the group by researching how to say 2 basic words, "please" and "thank you".

3. Meteorologist:will examine typical weather and climate of the destination to help the group decide what to pack for the trip.

4. Culture Expert: will research famous or interesting places to visit in the chosen destination. The group will choose 3 of these places or sites to visit and the culture expert will research information about them to find out their locations within the city and their importance to the country.

Each group member will explore 2 different websites related to their area of interest.  Groups will first need to agree on a destination, specifying the country and continent of the destination.  Once the group has agreed upon the destination, each member can explore the following websites to find the necessary information.

Navigator will explore:
