Task
The French Revolution!
A drama(dy?) in three acts + 1 Foreign response.
Students will be able to write a 4-5 page narrative or screenplay (10 + pages) covering the three phases (and a foreign response) of the French Revolution from the perspective of a fictional historical participant.
(Moderate Phase): 1789-1791
(Radical Phase & Directory): 1792-1799
(Age of Napoleon): 1799-1815
Foreign Response –At anytime.
Procedure:
- Complete Research via the web-quest Procedure Link.
- Before you start writing come up with a plot. Your story has to have a plot before you can write it. The plot is what the story is about. One example: Robespierre and the Committee of Public Safety is trying to save the Revolution from enemies within France and outside of France. He creates the Terror to save the Revolution. That is a plot.
- You must include real historical characters but your main character should be fictional (that way they live through all the phases which is not true for most of the Historical figures). You can also have a narrator to help the audience understand what is going on.
- When you create dialogue (conversations between characters), you can get as creative as you want to. Have fun with it but make it historically accurate. I don’t mind if you use modern language – just don’t weird out on me. It can be funny – just not silly. If you aren’t sure of the difference, ask me before you get too far.
5. Check the rubric/evaluation as you work to ensure you earn the most points possible.
