Introduction
Have you ever wondered about where frogs come from? What does a frog look when it is born? Why do frogs look different when they are adults? You will find answers as you explore the Frog Life Cycle. Make sure to have your life cycle note catcher handy to gather information!

Task
Watch the video below to get an idea about the Frog's life cycle!
On your own, you will explore the frog's life cycle during which you will use your note catcher to gain information about the frog. At the end of your WebQuest, you will use the information you learned from your exploration to create a poster about the frog's life cycle. It should include original drawings and specific information about each stage of the frog's life cycle. Use your creativity and do your best work!
Information about each stage is below in the process. Use your note catcher during your exploration to gather all of your information.
Process
Metamorphosis- The Life cycle of a frog.
Metamorphosis means the change of shape during an animal's life.
Follow the stages of the frog's life cycle using your note catcher to catch information about each step. Start with, egg and continue until you reach the frog stage of the cycle.

During the frogs life cycle it will develop through four stages: egg, tadpole, froglet, and frog.
1. Egg
Make sure to catch the notes on your note catcher and once you have become an expert on the egg stage of the frog's life cycle move on to the next stage.

Mom frog can lay up to 4,000 eggs at one time in what we call egg masses. These egg masses float on top of the water on a jelly-like substance that has an awful taste to defend against predators. Egg masses will float anywhere from 3 to 25 days before hatching. They do not hatch as full-grown frogs but as....
2. Tadpole

Tadpoles are born with gills so that they can breathe under the water. They have big heads and long tales. Tadpoles will eat almost anything including other tadpoles or eggs.
3. Froglet

Click this link to learn all about the Froglet ----------> http://www.wou.edu/~alittle11/My%20website/thefroglet.html
The froglet is beginning to take the shape of an adult frog. During this stage of the development, the froglet will start to lose its tail and gain more features of an adult frog. The mouth will widen and the tongue will develop. The next step in the frog's life cycle is....
4. Frog

Click this link to learn all about the adult Frog -------->
During the last stage of the Frog's life cycle, the frog will have completely lost its tail. It takes about 2 to 4 years for the frog to be completely developed. During adulthood, female frogs will lay more eggs to start the cycle over again.
Most species of frogs do not take care of their own. They simply lay the eggs and allow for mother nature to take its course.

3-LS1-1 Develop models to describe that organisms have unique and diverse life cycles but all have in common birth, growth, reproduction, and death.
The core disciplinary state: Growth and development of Organisms Reproduction are essential to the continued existence of every kind of organism. Plants and animals have unique and diverse life cycles. (UE.LS1B.a)C
Clarification Statement: Changes that organisms go through during their lives form a pattern. For plant life cycles there is an emphasis on
flowering plants.
It is extremely important for every student to grasp the importance of continued existence through the exploration of a life cycle. Every organism goes through changes throughout its lifetime and is essential to its existence.
