Introduction
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, is a story about the life cycle of a caterpillar. This read-aloud goes over numbers, letters, colors, and days of the week. The book also includes a small lesson in the Life Cycle of a Butterfly, from Egg, to Caterpillar, Chrysalis, and the Metamorphosis into a Beautiful Butterfly. Join us on the journey of a small white egg who turns into a beautiful butterfly.

Task
Your task is to find out how a caterpillar goes from a egg to a beautiful butterfly.




First, we will create a KWL (what we know. what we want to know, and what we learned) about caterpillars.
Then, you will meet The Very Hungry Caterpillar and listen to the story online.
Next, you will complete a graphic organizer about the life cycle of a butterfly,
Finally, you will complete an art project about a symmetrical butterfly.
Process

1. First, we will look at the front cover and have a discussion about what we know about caterpillars and what we want to know about caterpillars. As a class, we will fill out the KW part of the KWL chart.
2. Next, you will watch and listen to The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

3. Then, we will all fill out a graphic organizer

4. Re-create the life cycle of a butterfly

5. Complete the "L" column of the KWL chart of what the students have learned about butterflies.
