American Symbols and Monuments

Introduction

Have you wondered....

Why are the stripes on the American Flag?

Why is the Liberty Bell cracked?

Where did the Statue of Liberty come from?

How Mount Rushmore came to be?

Task

In this webquest, you will find the answers to those questions as you explore the different kinds of American Symbols and Monuments that have made our country unique. You will research four different American symbols. You should provide at least 3 facts per symbol. You will then create a "Travel in America" brochure for non US citizens.

Process

Research

  1. You will start the research process by choosing 4 different symbols or monuments from the resource section.
  2. You will then choose the appropriate links provided that are about your topic.
  3. Read through the resources and pick out 3 different facts that you found interesting.
  4. Once you have completed all 4 symbols or monument facts, find a picture that correlates with each of your chosen symbols or monuments and paste them on the informational brochure.
  5. Finally, add your interesting facts under each picture to complete the brochure.
