Conclusion

Literacy is integrated because students are required to research and read from different resources in order to complete their brochure. Students will be required to use these resources while pulling out only the information necessary to complete the activity.  Students will be required to use content vocabulary in their brochures and will make connections to their lives in order to foster learning and retain information.  The pictures that the students are required to incorporate in their brochure will help them understand how the different regions compare and contrast with each other.  The maps that the students are required to include for each region will give them a better understanding of each region in relation to each other and will help them to be able to describe their location in writing and words.

This assignment will benefit all students because there are many ways that it can be altered to fit different learning styles and different levels of ability.

SPED - Students with special needs will have extend time to complete the assignment.  They will also be given the opportunity to use bullets rather than be required to write in paragraph format.  They will be shown a sample of a completed project to better assist them in understanding the directions and format of the brochure. They will be given the option of creating a paper brochure rather than creating a PPT.

ELL - English Language Learners will create a paper brochure and create drawings to describe recreational activities and landmarks found in each region of Georgia. They will be shown a sample of a completed project to better assist them in understanding the directions and format of the brochure. Rubric will be adjusted to assess only pertinent information.

GT - The Gifted & Talented students will be required to included two pictures, two landmark, and two recreational activities that can be found in each region of Georgia.  They will be required to present their completed brochure to the class in a 3-5 minute presentation.
