Mount Olympus is rumbling! The King of the Gods is furious! It seems the people of today do not share the fact that they were, and still are, important today! In order to do this, you will research Greek mythology and complete a series of investigative tasks. Finally, to prove the importance of the gods and goddesses, you will create a new god or goddess that exemplifies todays values, and who will help the traditional gods and goddesses reign in Mount Olympus. So, get your magnifying glass out and start exploring!

Task

Your task is to investigate the Greek gods, goddesses, and heroes.  You must explore the clues and resources made available to you to discover the importance of these legends and deities (1) in the Greek culture.  Your final task will be to use the knowledge you have gathered to create your own god or goddess that the Ancient Greeks might find valuable in our society today.

(1) Diety - noun, plural deities. 1. a god or goddess. 2. divine character or nature , especially that of the Supreme Being; divinity. 3. the estate or rank of a god

Day 1-2:  You will learn more about the gods and goddess by using the online tools.  Using this information, you will write a biography about one of them.

Process

To pacify the gods and goddesses, you will complete a series of activities. These activities will help you discover all the traditional gods, goddesses and heros of Greek mythology. Follow the steps below in sequential order to complete these activities.

First, you will complete Activity 1 by going on a scavenger hunt to investigate the main gods and goddesses of Greek mythology.Please use the following sources to complete the activity.1)  http://mythweb.com

The Greek gods and goddesses are smiling down upon you! Mount Olympus is in harmony. The gods and goddesses are satisfied that their importance to the past is being preserved, and they are still important in today's society. Keep the gods and goddesses happy by sharing your new knowledge with your friends and family, and let the mythology live on.
