Introduction
Welcome to the Webquest Animals and Their Habitats for Miss Cline's first grade class! In this webquest we will be exploring what a habitat is and what kind of animals live in different habitats.
Task
There will be 4 different tasks for you to complete on 4 different days of this Webquest. You will view videos about habitats and write, draw and learn vocabulary words for different habitats.
During your research on habitats, think about the following questions:
- What kinds of plants grow in this habitat?
- What kinds of animals might live in this habitat?
- What is the temperature and weather like in this habitat?
- What makes this habitat different from other habitats?
Process
Task One:
- For the first task you will visit http://www.skyenimals.com/browse_habitat.cgi?habitat=polar_regions to read about the arctic.
- Then go to www.brainpopjr.com
- Enter the username and password that I emailed you at the beginning of the course.
- Click on Science
- Click on Habitats
- Click on Arctic Habitats and watch the video.
- This video is about 6 minutes.
- When you are done watching the video, take the “easy quiz” located under the video. The quiz can be read to you by placing your mouse over the sentence and multiple choice answers that you want. See if you can get all of the questions about the arctic correct!
- Then click the “Draw About It” and follow the directions.
- The quiz and drawing will not be turned in. They are for you to practice and apply what you have learned.
Task Two:
- First visit http://www.skyenimals.com/browse_habitat.cgi?habitat=desert to read about the desert.
- Then go to www.brainpopjr.com
- Enter the username and password that I emailed you at the beginning of the course.
- Click on Science
- Click on Habitats
- Click on Desert Habitats and watch the video.
- This video is about 4 minutes.
- When you are done watching the video, take the “easy quiz” located under the video. The quiz can be read to you by placing your mouse over the sentence and multiple choice answers that you want. See if you can get all of the questions about the desert correct!
- Then click the “Write About It” and follow the directions.
- The quiz and writing will not be turned in. They are for you to practice and apply what you have learned.
Task Three:
- First visit http://www.skyenimals.com/browse_habitat.cgi?habitat=oceans to read about oceans.
- Then go to www.brainpopjr.com
- Enter the username and password that I emailed you at the beginning of the course.
- Click on Science
- Click on Habitats
- Click on Ocean Habitats and watch the video.
- This video is about 6 minutes.
- When you are done watching the video, take the “easy quiz” located under the video. The quiz can be read to you by placing your mouse over the sentence and multiple choice answers that you want. See if you can get all of the questions about the ocean correct!
- Then click “Word Wall” and view the definitions of 5 different ocean vocabulary words. These words and definitions can be read to you by placing the mouse directly over the word or sentence.
- The quiz will not be turned in. It is for you to practice and apply what you have learned.
Task Four:
- First visit http://www.skyenimals.com/browse_habitat.cgi?habitat=tropical_forest to read about rainforests.
- Then go to www.brainpopjr.com
- Enter the username and password that I emailed you at the beginning of the course.
- Click on Science
- Click on Habitats
- Click on Rainforests and watch the video.
- This video is about 6 minutes.
- When you are done watching the video, take the “easy quiz” located under the video. The quiz can be read to you by placing your mouse over the sentence and multiple choice answers that you want. See if you can get all of the questions about the rainforest correct!
- Then choose either draw about it, write about it, or word wall and complete the activity.
- The quiz and activity will not be turned in. It is for you to practice and apply what you have learned.
Evaluation
For the evaluation of this Webquest, please write your answer to the
following questions in the Discussion Board on Schoology under Week 2 labeled: Habitat Discussion Questions. 
Choose the habitat that interested you the most. Type your answers to the following questions into the Discussion Board
- What kinds of plants grow in this habitat?
- What kinds of animals might live in this habitat?
- What is the temperature and weather like in this habitat?
- What makes this habitat different from other habitats?
