Introduction

What types of organisms live in a wetland? Wetlands are found all over the world, including here in North Carolina. In our great state, we have a wide variety of wetlands including swamps, bogs, marshes, estuaries, and many other saltwater and freshwater ecosystems. A wetland is an area of land that is saturated with water for a long period of time. When something is saturated, it means that it is full of water. In this exciting webquest, we are going to explore and observe the types of organisms that can live in wetlands. As you complete this webquest, you will be exposed to a lot of information about wetlands. All of this is great information, but what I really want you to focus on is the type and variety of organisms that live there. In case you don't know, an organism is anything that is living. They can include plants, animals, fungus, and microorganisms.
