Sonnet WebQuest

Introduction

By the end of this WebQuest you will be able to:

* Explain what a Sonnet is

* Compare/contrast the qualities of an English and an Italian Sonnet

* Write your Sonnet

Task

Do you like listening to music? You're probably thinking, " Duh, of course I do. Don't most people love music?". If so, you might be interested in learning about Sonnets which are a type of poetry. Sonnets share similar qualities as music such as , beat and rythym, and ryhme scheme. Learn more about two types of Sonnets called English and Italian through the following WebQuest.

Process

1. Read through the powerpoint and take T- Chart Notes on English and Italian Sonnets

2. Analyze Billy Collins Sonnet about Sonnets and answer the questions that follow.

3. Analyze one of Shakespeare's Sonnets- 18, 16, or 130.

4. Participate in the class discussion about the Sonnets you analyzed in #2 & 3.

5. Take the Sonnet Quiz in class.
