Water Cycle WebQuest

Introduction

In this webquest, you are going to explore the Water Cycle, each part, and why it is important to the earth. Read below to see what you are going to do to complete this quest.

Student Directions: You will work through 4 sections to complete the WebQuest.

  • Introduction: a summary of the WebQuest.
  • Tasks: there are 5 of them to complete.
  • Process: detailed steps to follow to complete each task
  • Conclusion: videos with quizzes at the end of each and interactive games.

Introduction

  • Have you ever wondered where all the water goes when it rains? How does the rain get into the clouds? You will find out the answers to those questions as you explore The Water Cycle. Make sure you have your science journals out as you complete each task.

Task

The Task

  • On your exploration of the water cycle you will be completing 5 tasks. For each task you will use the internet to learn about each part of the water cycle. Keep track of everything you learn and interesting facts about the water cycle in your science notes. You will use it to complete your final project.
  • At the end of your exploration, you will get into a group and re-create the water cycle by making a poster. You will present it to your classmates when it is complete. 
  • You need to include the following somewhere in your project: 
  1. Title 
  2. Water Cycle with Description
  3. 5 Facts about Water Cycle
  4. Why It Is Important to Earth
  5. 3 Sentences on What You Learned. 

  • When you make your water cycle, be creative, don't just draw it. Some ideas are...
  1. Song (rap)
  2. Poster (paper or digital version like Glogster)
  3. Movie 
  4. Water Cycle in a bag

  • There is a rubric for you to see on how you will be graded for this assignment.

Process

The Process

Below are the 5 tasks that you need to complete. Start with the first one and then continue with the rest. You will need your Science Notes to complete each task. Don't forget it!

Task 1: Precipitation

  • Your first task is precipitation. Click on the web sites below to learn more about precipitation and what it means. Make sure you take notes in your science journal. Once you have become an expert on precipitation, proceed to your next task.

  • In this next task you will explore evaporation. Click on the websites below to learn more about evaporation and its role in the Water cycle. Take notes in your science journal. Once you have become an expert on evaporation, proceed to your next task.

  • This next task is on condensation. Click on the websites below to learn more about condensation and its role in the Water Cycle. Take notes in your science journal. Once you have become an expert on condensation, proceed to your last task.

Task 5: The Project

In this last task you will get into your group and re-create the water cycle. Be creative when you do this. See the rubric on the bottom of the webpage to self assess. Make sure you have 5 facts, why the water cycle is important to the earth, and a reflection on what you learned written in your science iBook. Once you have written all the information in your science iBook and have completed your presentation, turn the project, along with your self assessed score from the rubric.
