13 Colonies Exploration!

Introduction

  Greetings Fabulous 5th graders!

We have spent the past few weeks visiting the original 13 colonies.

Starting with the New England Colonies, continuing to the Middle Colonies, and moving down to the Southern Colonies.

Now...have some fun and explore what you know!

Task

At this point you already know who you will be exploring the colonial wilderness with.

Your task is to create a settlement within one of the original colonies.  Each paired group will "draw" a colony to settle in.  Your teacher will help you do this.

**Remember that you just came from another world, and you are presently connected to the community you traveled with.  Your community came to this new world seeking religious freedom.  Survival is crucial, but you find your beliefs begin to conflict with your present leaders.  You want to take your family and flee, but where will you go?  Will you follow a new leader, or will you create a new settlement of your own?

Develop a plan!

Things to consider: Economy (work), food, supplies, geography of land, religious beliefs, leadership, and natives.

Process

Which direction shall you go?

First Task:
