Introduction  

Mount Olympus is rumbling! The King of the Gods is furious! It seems the people of today do not understand the Greek gods and goddesses and their importance to Greek society of the past. To pacify the King and the other gods and goddesses, you must become familiar with these deities and share how they were, and still are, important today! In order to do this, you will research Greek mythology and complete a series of investigative tasks. Finally, to prove the importance of the gods and goddesses, you will create a new god or goddess that exemplifies todays values, and who will help the traditional gods and goddesses reign in Mount Olympus. So, get your magnifing glass out and start exploring!

Task

Your task is to investigate the Greek gods, goddesses, and heroes.  You must explore the clues and resources made available to you to discover the importance of these legends and deities in the Greek culture.  Your final task will be to use the knowledge you have gathered to create your own god or goddess that the Ancient Greeks might find valuable in our society today.

   To pacify the gods and goddesses, you will complete a series of activities. These activities will help you discover all the traditional gods, goddesses and heros of Greek mythology. Follow the steps below in sequential order to complete these activities.
Activity 1: Activity 1 The first step will be to investigate the main gods and goddesses of Greek mythology. To do so, you will need to complete Activity 1.  Scroll down to see Activiy 1 details.  After completing Activity 1 and learning about the main gods and goddesses, it is time to discover the lesser gods and goddesses of Greek mythology. Although these are not the main deities, they are no less important, and each play a critical role in mythology. Click on the Activity 2 link to complete Step 2 now!
 
Once activity 1 and 2 are completed, it is time to focus on another important part of Greek mythology. In Activity 3, you will explore the world of Greek heroes. Pay close attention to Hercules and his 12 tasks! Click on the Activity 3 link to complete Step 3 now!! 
After all the hard investigating you have done, it is now time to show off what you have learned. In this step, you will compete in a game to show your knowledge to the gods and goddesses, as well as make a proposal for a new god or goddess to join the traditional deities on Mount Olympus. Welcome to the world of Greek Mythology! Today you will take a tour of the World Wide Web to learn more about the twelve main gods and goddesses. You will be asked to answer seven question and then you will be expected to select one god or goddess and write a paragraph about who he or she was and what his or her accomplishments were. Follow the steps below to complete this activity.

    1. Get a copy of the pre test question from your teacher and complete each answer to the best of your ability.

    2. Review the questions that you just completed. Now we are ready to begin our Internet Journey of Greek Mythology.

    5. Follow this task to select your favorite god or goddess by writing an biography about one of them. This autobiography should be a minimum of one paragraph. The list of questions below should be considered when writing your paragraph. (Special Note: The links in step four may be helpful in completing this task.)
