Introduction
by Gabrielle Bishop
This WebQuest was created as part of a 4th grade Alabama Social Studies lesson plan for the Curriculum & Instruction Delivery course at Troy University. During this WebQuest, students will research Alabama's civil war military leaders, compare the roles of women during and after the war, and gain an insight to the economy as a result of the civil war.
If you dare to embark on this WebQuest, click the "Task" tab.

Task
Your task is to research the following three topics with the help of your partner and to record your findings on your WebQuest guide:
- Alabama's military leaders
- Women on the homefront and in battle
- The economy as a result of the Civil War
You and your partner are to work cooperatively and divide the work evenly. After you have located all of the information needed to complete your WebQuest guide, you will decorate a quilt square using the three topics covered in this WebQuest. Make sure to record information accurately so that you can complete your quilt square to the best of your abilities.
