Process
1. Open up a Microsoft Document. Title it "Healthy Living Skills Part 5: Body Language, Conversation, Resolving Differences, and Assertiveness."
2. Watch the following videos. Following each video, type the question and your answer on your document. Make SURE you write in complete sentences and answer all of the questions thoughtfully. Your answers will make up the PowerPoint presentation at the end of this Webquest.
Video 1:
Answer the following questions on your document. If you cannot remember the answer, you may want to rewatch the video.
1. Who are your peers?
2. What sort of negative things might your peers try to talk you into trying?
3. What are three ways that you learned from the video that you can do to resist peer pressure?
Video 2:
Answer the following questions on your document. If you cannot remember the answer, you may want to rewatch the video.
1. What are a few (at least two) of the disagreements in the video?
2. How did the people in the video resolve the disagreements that you listed in question 1?
3. Write a paragraph (5 sentences) about a time you had a disagreement with someone, what the disagreement was about, and how you resolved it.
Video 3:
Answer the following questions on your document. If you cannot remember the answer, you may want to rewatch the video.
1. What does it mean to be assertive?
2. Do you think you are assertive? Why or why not? (2 part question requires a 2 part answer).
3. List in complete sentences the 4 secrets of how to be assertive.
4. Write a paragraph (5 sentences) about a time where you had to be assertive. Be sure to describe who, what, when, where, why, and how.
Video 4:
Answer the following questions on your document. If you cannot remember the answer, you may want to rewatch the video.
1. The video shows 10 examples of a person being assertive. List at least 5 of them.
2. Have you ever experienced any of these scenarios from the video? If so, which one(s)? If not, choose one of the scenarios and write a short paragraph (3 sentences) about what you would do if you were in the situation.
Video 5:
Answer the following questions on your document. If you cannot remember the answer, you may want to rewatch the video.
1. What does it mean to socialize? Do you like to socialize? Why or why not? (This is a 3 part question which requires a 3 part response).
2. Write a paragraph (5 sentences) summarizing what this video is about.
3. What are 3 things you can do to keep a conversation going (from the video or in your own experience).
4. Write about a time when you were nervous but you had to socialize anyway. Describe that time in a paragraph (5 sentences). Remember to answer who, what, when, where, why, and how.
Final Project (Worth a test grade in computers and Lifeskills):
You will be creating a PowerPoint on what you've learned in this webquest and what you've learned in Mrs. Smith's Lifeskills class. Make sure you bring your notes from that class. Below are the requirements:
You will be graded on:
- Make your PowerPoint exciting by changing up the backgrounds, fonts, and transitions
- Appropriate content on each slide (see below for specific content required on each slide)
- Only one graphic (picture) per slide which must be RELEVANT to the title of that slide
- One title per slide (Title MUST be capitalized except for words that are 3 letters or less)
- The points in the body of each slide must be numbered or bullet pointed
- All points must start with a capital
- If you use bullet points, no period is necessary, however, if you use numbers, you must have periods
- All words must be spelled correctly. You can either use dictionary.com or just ask me for help spelling. If there's a red line underneath the word, do NOT leave it red. Find out what the mistake is by researching or asking me.
- ALL TITLES MUST BE IN 18 POINT FONT
- ALL POINTS IN THE BODY MUST BE IN 14 POINT FONT
