Introduction
Pronouns
Why are you making us go over this again? Because it's that important.
Pronouns refer to a noun, an individual(s) or thing(s) - the pronouns antecedent whose identity was made clear earlier in the text. Remember to use a balance between nouns and pronouns for clear writing.
Task
The Task
Your assignment for the day is to go through the websites to learn all you can about a pronoun. Be sure to pay close attention to the different types of pronouns. You assignment today will be complete when you complete the online quiz and writing assignment. This will be turned in at the end of class so work diligently. :)
Your first task: Without talking, obtain a sheet of paper with nothing written on it (not even a stray mark!) and write your first and last name. Remember I do not have any extra pencils if they are not in the pencil cup, please don't ask. :/ Also, my pencil sharpeners have walked away. (Yes, it makes me sad too!)

On your handy-dandy paper, you will find and write the answer for the following parts.
PART 1: Eh, what is that again?
PART 2: There are how many pronouns?
PART 3: Antecedents
PART 4: I can use pronouns, yes I can!
PART 5: People are friends, not things
PART 6: Quiz
PART 7: Practice makes perfect
PART 8: Now let's have fun!
Process

Part 1: Eh, what is that again?
Give the definition of pronoun by using one or both of these links:
http://www.grammarbook.com/grammar/pronoun.asp or http://www.yourdictionary.com/pronoun
Part 2: There are how many pronouns?
List the different types (or kinds) of pronouns:
http://www.grammar-monster.com/lessons/pronouns_different_types.htm
Part 3: Antecedents
What is an antecedent? Answer: The word the pronoun is referring to
Example: Gracie put her coat on the chair. her=pronoun Gracie=antecedent
What is the rule in pronoun-antecedent agreement? (Hint: look for "basic principle" on site)

Use the website to help you with the following word problems:
1. The pronouns "everyone" and "everybody" are... singular OR plural
If you used "everyone" or "everybody" in a sentence, you would use which pronoun to refer to "everyone" or "everybody"... it OR they OR he/she
2. If you don't know whether the "student" or "teacher" or "pet" in a sentence is a girl or a boy, what can you write to show that it could be either one, but you just don't know right now. (Hint: having trouble? look at #2 on the webpage)
3. Go to to this website and take a short quiz. Write your score on #3. http://depts.dyc.edu/learningcenter/owl/exercises/agreement_pa_ex2.htm
(WRITE YOUR ANSWERS ON YOUR SHEET OF PAPER)
Part 4: I can use pronouns, yes I can!
In order to use pronouns clearly, your pronouns must:
- Agree in _______________
- Agree in _______________
- Refer clearly to a ______________
(Write the answers on your sheet of paper) *If you are having trouble remembering, refer to this link and look for agreement: http://leo.stcloudstate.edu/grammar/pronante.html

Write down your score on your paper. If you would like to retake the online quiz, you may. Just indicate that on your paper that you wanted to go for a higher score on your quiz! :)
PART 7: Practice makes perfect
Let's show off all of your knowledge!
Your task:
Pretend that it's the last week of school (YEAH!) and you are about to write a message in one of your friend's yearbooks. You must come up with your own creative message, but you must use at least three pronouns in your message. HIGHLIGHT OR UNDERLINE YOUR PRONOUNS.
*Your message must be at least three lines long. Highlight or underline three correctly used pronouns in your writing. Feel free to use more pronouns.
For example: (You may not use ANY of these sentences.)
Bethany,
