Introduction
What leadership styles does it take to be an effective superintendent?The success of a superintendent is influenced by how the teachers and principals in a school district perceive the leadership of the superintendent. The leadership style of a superintendent also influences the perceptions of principals and teachers regarding how a superintendent uses power.Candidates will explore the world of superintendents. Candidates will take on the role of superintendents by matriculating through the daily operations of a district. The candidate will also incorporate characteristics such as their personality style and leadership style into their selection process.

Task
The candidate will: 1. Review a video that gives the overview of the district applying to along with the roles and responsibilities of a superintendent. 2. Complete a Personality Inventory and Interpret Results 3. Complete a Leadership Inventory and Interpret Results 4. Present the Results from both Inventories to the interview committee and provide the importance of the inventory results to becoming effective superintendents, through role
playing and scenarios provided as it relates to the inventory results
Process
- Part A: District Video/Handout. Each candidate will review the video regarding the district’s expectations and policies regarding a superintendent’s roles and responsibilities as it relates to the district.

- Part D: Participate in an interview conducted by an interview committee (consisting of community members, school personnel, etc.). Candidates must address all questions from the committee. Candidates must also give a review of the material provided and address their results from the inventories conducted and place emphasis on the results as they relate to being an effective superintendent.
Evaluation
- Candidates have completed the interview process successfully. Candidates were given scenarios and asked to answer them according to the results provided on the personality and leadership inventories.

Conclusion
- Candidates have completed the interview process successfully. They have reviewed information related to the role of superintend
ent and completed personality and leadership inventories. As inventories were interpreted, personality and leadership styles were identified that were imperative to exemplify as superintendents. Candidates were also given three scenarios and asked to answer them according to the results provided by both inventories.
- Specific guidelines and a rubric for the interview was provided for candidates. The candidate with the highest score will be selected as the new superintendent.
