SC 6 regions webquest

Introduction

Good news! Our class has been hired by the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department.  We are to lead its new advertising branch.  They want us to design brochures for each of the six regions of South Carolina since each region has its own unique characteristics and charm.

Since we have all been hired, we can break the project into sections by forming small groups.  This will ensure our project gets completed by the deadline! We need to break up into small groups to create a brochure for only one region of South Carolina.

In order to complete this project, you need to learn more about the six regions: Blue Ridge, Piedmont, Sand Hills, Inner Coastal Plain, Outer Coastal Plain, and the Coastal Zone.

Do you best on this project.  Although I am not your employer, I am still your teacher.  The group that does the best job will be able to take the class on a field trip to their region of South Carolina tomorrow.  We will use Google Earth to go on a virtual field trip to see all of the landmarks and features it has to offer that you were able to find for your brochure!

Task

You will break into your small groups to research your region of South Carolina.  You will use the matrix to help you in your research.  Following approval from the teacher that all information given about your region is correct, you may begin creating your brochure to attract tourists to your region!

You will use the Microsoft PowerPoint brochure template provided to create your brochure.  You will need to email a copy of your brochure to me so you can teach your classmates about your region using your brochure.

1. Complete your section of the matrix.  You do not have much room in the spaces, so do not write in complete sentences.

2. Have your matrix checked by the teacher for accuracy.  Post your information on the board so your classmates can transfer the information you found into their matrix.  DO NOT copy other classmate’s information from the board until you have completed all steps of completing your brochure.

3. Begin making your brochure! Be sure to include all information in your matrix into your brochure.  Include pictures that will attract tourists to your region.

4. Save it on your own drive or email it to me.  You will present your brochure to the class following completion.

5. Complete your matrix.  This is the time you should write down your classmate’s information they contributed to the chart.

6. Present your brochure! Keep it interesting, because everyone will vote at the end of the class for which region they would like to visit tomorrow on a virtual field trip.

Evaluation

The rubric will be provided to each student in class as well.
