Greek gods and goddesses

Introduction

Today you will learn about Greek gods and goddesses. The twelve main gods/goddesses are the following:

Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Ares, Hermes. These twelve gods/goddesses lived on Mount Olympus in Greece and they were called the Twelve Olympians. The gods and goddesses ruled over the humans as well as made them praise the gods and goddesses. Humans feared the gods and believed that everything good and bad came from the gods and goddesses.

Now let's get started on the task!

Task

Your task will be to create Greek god and goddesses trading cards! This will help you identify what the gods/goddesses do and who they are.

Process

1st-- Have your teacher pass out twelve small pieces of paper to act as your trading cards

2nd-- Draw each of the main gods/goddesses on the cards and

3rd-- On the back add 5-10 facts about the gods/goddesses as well as what they are the god/goddess of

4th-- Make sure you add color to your cards and be as neat as you can

5th-- Have your teacher put you into groups of 3-4 and trade your cards as well as compare information

6th-- As a class discuss the gods/goddesses and make a Venn Diagram diplaying the differences and similarities of gods and goddesses

7th-- Have fun trading your cards with your classmates!

The websites you will use to find this information is: http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_figures_in_Greek_mythology and http://primaryfacts.com/775/ancient-greek-gods-goddesses-and-religion-facts-information-and-resources/

Evaluation

This is how the studets will be evaluated

3-- To get a 3 students work will have to be, for the most part, neat and have mostly relevant and accurate facts/information.

2-- To get a 2 students work will be a bit sloppy as well has some facts/information that does not pertain to the topic and non-accurate information.

1-- To get a 1 students work will be very sloppy has very little pertaining facts/information and poor information.

0-- To get a 0 the students will show none to very little effort.

Conclusion

Good job! Now that you've created your trading cards hopefully you have learned more about Greek gods/goddesses, who they are and what they do. Now you can share your information with your other classamtes by sharing your trading cards! If you want to expand your knowledge even further you can make more trading cards of all of the gods/goddesses. Good luck!
