Introduction
A communicable disease or (infectious disease) is a disease that is caused by bacteria or virus that goes into our body. It is spread from a person to person or from an animal to a person in various ways, but most commonly by physical contacts and bacterias that travels in the air.
There are a lot of different types of communicable diseases, but we will be looking at just a few of them that are commonly found in school aged children. They are:
- Chicken Pox
- Whooping cough
- Ringworm
- School sores (impetigo)
Your task is to take a research on one of these diseases in groups of 3, create a poster and present it to the class.
Task
Research - Information Collection - Poster Creation - Presentation

In groups of 3, research one of the following communicative diseases - chicken pox, whooping cough, ringworm or school sores. Research and collect as much information as you can- both texts and images. Create a poster as a group, decide who is talk about which section and present it to the class.
Process
1. You will be divided into groups of 3.
2. You will draw one of the following diseases' names out of a hat.
- Chicken Pox
- Whooping Cough
- Ringworm
- School Sores (Impetigo)
3. Your group will research on the disease that you drew out from the hat. Find information about:
- what it is
- how fast can this disease spread
- how this disease is spreaded
- what symptoms are
- preventions (how can you keep yourself safe from this disease?)
- treatment (how can someone with this disease be cured? What are diffrent methods of treatment?)
- any methods for minimising the spread of the disease (if there is no information about this, you may suggest some ideas and tell us the reason why you think it would be effective for the minimisation).
- any other interesting facts about this disease (about 3-5 facts)
3. Create a poster about the diesease, with the information you found. Be as creative as you can!
4. You will be presenting (around 3-5 minutes) about your findings with your poster to the class. All members of the group must take turns in speaking. [For example, student A might talk about what the disease is and what the symptoms are; student B talks about preventions and treatment; and student C talks about other interesting facts about the disease. ]

Evaluation
Checklist
- Any errors in spelling?
- Any errors in punctuation? (e.g. captial letters, comma etc)
- Is the poster creative? (e.g. any images included? colourful? is it visually attractive?)
- Have you decided who is going to speak about what section/ part?
- Have you practiced your speech?
Conclusion
Group Presentation
Each group will be invited to the front of the classroom and show their poster that they created, and give the rest of the class a short presetntation about the diesease they have researched.
Try not to read off the poster!
You are telling and teaching your classmates about what you have learnt through research.
