Introduction
Digital tools, like computers and tablets, are all around us. Many of us use the Internet to help us gather information and learn new things. Think of the Internet as its own digital town. You know what it means to be a good citizen in your town and at your school. In this Webquest, you are going to discover answers to these questions:
- What does it mean to be a good digital citizen?
- Why do we need to be good digital citizens?
- What are things good digital citizens do?
- What are some thing that they do not do?
- What happens if I don't follow the rules?
Being a good digital citizen is an important job and it is your responsibility to learn and follow the rules to keep you safe.
To learn the answers to these questions, begin by reading your task.
Task
In this unit, you will learn as much as you can about digital citizenship by looking carefully at the sites I have provided you with. You need to discover what a good citizen is and why it is important to be a good citizen. Find out what good citizens do, and do not do, and the consequences of not following the Internet rules.
You will gather all of this information by following the lessons that I provide for you in order. When you have finished your lessons, you will show me what you have learned by creating a Podcast with a partner discussing what it means to be a good digital citizen and what your responsibilites are when using the Internet.
Process
Start with the Day 1 link below and complete all the tasks for each day before moving onto the next. Make sure if there is a video, that you watch the whole thing and are able to retell me what the video taught you. After each Day's activities, there will be a page for you to do that will help you organize and remember what you learned each day. You will use these pages, and the information you gathered, at the end of the unit to design your Podcast.
