World Class Travelers

Introduction

Welcome to Web Quest World Class Travelers!

Pack your bags and grab your passport! My name is Jimmy and I will be your pilot on this Web Quest! You are about to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery. This Web Quest will be the vehicle for you to learn about your country of origin, or maybe just a country you are interested exploring. Ever wonder what this land looks like or the foods they eat? What do they do for fun and what are their holidays and celebrations? How similar or different do people there live compared to you? All of these questions can be answered right here. Learning about cultures around the world is important for all of us! We live in a world much larger than our own communities. Although we may be different in many ways, we are also connected in many similarities as well! So what are you waiting for? Let’s take a virtual adventure around the world!

Task

Hello travelers! Pilot Jimmy at your service! Welcome to Web Quest “World Class Travelers” Your task is to research a country, whether it is one you culturally identify with or one you would just like to explore with a partner!

During your journey, you will:

-  research various topics about country's using a variety of websites;

-  view videos connected to your country of research;

-  use Cornell notes (Google Docs) to synthesize and record your research information from text and video sources;

-  create an online brochure demonstrating your research (Google Docs)

Before you buckle up, take a look at the evaluation page. This will give you a bettter understanding of what is expected for the final task.

It's almost time to depart on a learning adventure!Just one more stop so you can meet my co-pilot!

Process

Before taking off, you must find yourself a co-pilot for this journey. Having a co-pilot enables you to learn and work together, while also dividing up the work. I'd like you to meet my co-pilot, Travis!

He goes with me on all my trips. We each have specific jobs to do, which makes the trip a lot easier. Once you have selected your co-pilot, follow the steps below.

1. Explore Countries of the World for your destination. You and your co-pilot must decide on a country together.

2. Next open an electronic Cornell Note template in your Google Drive. Both you and your partner will separately use this to record your research.

3.  Since you have a co-pilot, you can divide the work then come back together to share the information. In the table below are the topics you must research and include in your online brochure. Divide the topics up with your partner (3 per person). Click on the links to the right to travel to your research destination.
