Unit 1: Exploring Communities

Introduction

In this webquest you will explore communities! You will be working in a group of 3 students. In order to do an excellent job, you will need to work together and read carefully! Ask questions, if you need help! 

Task

In this webquest you will learn about different people in the community. Each person has a "read along story". You will choose one person to report out on. In your report you will share with the class...

1. Why is the person important?

2. How does this person help your community?

3. What would happen if this community member was not a part of the community?. How does the person help your community?

Process

Step 1:

Read about each of the community members. Then choose the one that your group believes is the most important.

Step 2:

Answer the following questions with your group.

1. Why is the person important?

2. How does the person help your community?

3. What would happen if this community member was not a part of the community?

Step 3:

On the poster paper given to you, draw a picture of your community member working to help your community. Include the answers to your questions on the poster as well.

Students will create a poster with a picture of their community member. They will answer the three questions in complete sentences. Students will be graded on their presentation of their community memeber.
