Prevent Landslides!

Introduction

Help! Landslides are a real, nautral occurrance that can put the lives of many in danger!

Luckily, the CAN be prevented! It is up to you to find out how, and to spread the word in order for people to take action to prevent landslides from detroying homes and lives.

Task

Here is your job:

Through research, determine what landslides are.

Once you understand what they are, find out ways they can be prevented.

Now that you know what they are and what can be done to stop them from happening, write a letter to your local repsentatives persuading them to put your action into place.

Remind them of what can happen if they don't....

Process

Take note of the degree of devestation, who and what is affected, and where the landslides occur. Use the following graphic organizer:

2. Conduct research so that you have a better understanding of what landslides are and how you can prevent them.

3. Now that you are familiar with landslides, we must inform those who have the power to prevent them at the state level!

Brainstorm a persuasive letter that will be mailed to a local state representative, detailing why it is so important that we utilize our resources and money to put measures in place that prevent landslides.

4. Write a rough draft of your letter.

5. Get with a partner and peer review your letter

6. Complete final draft.

Conclusion

Thank you for your help. Writing letters to local state representatives is an amazing way to be a part of your community and make a difference! With your help, many injuries and the destruction of homes, roads, and buildings can be prevented.
