Introduction
Students will define rational numbers and they will learn how to add, subtract, multiply and divide rational numbers. Afterwards the student should be able to explain, in their own words, the meaning of rational numbers. The student will complete some exercises of rational numbers. By the end of this assignment, they will know the rules and the definition of rational numbers.
Task
Through the Web Quest, the students will be able to solve problems with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of rational numbers. The student will view a couple of websites, that will reinforce these concepts. Students will have a better understanding of the meaning of rational numbers and will be able to write their own definitions.
Process
1. Look for the definition of rational numbers.
Explain in own words the meaning of rational numbers.
Then give some examples of rational numbers.
- Start with this Website:
http://www.mathgoodies.com/articles/numbers.html
- Take a look at this Video:
https://youtu.be/9yvtLN_24G0?t=2s
2. Explain in your own words how to add, subtract, divide and multiply rational numbers.
- These websites should help:

http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/rational-numbers-operations.html
3. Solve and simplify the following examples:
- Integers
10+(-8)=
15-(-10)=
-10 x 9=
- Write as ratio
5=
-9=
0.7=
- Write as decimals
3/10=
-4/1=
Evaluation
| Criteria | Beginning | Developing | Emerging | Mastered |
| Math Concepts | Very limited explination and shows limited understanding of key concepts needed to solve problems. | Shows some understanding of the math concepts needed to solve problems. | Shows a good understanfing of math concepts needed to solve problems. | Shows complete understanding. |
| Working with Others | Did not work effectivley with others. | Cooperated with others but constantly needed to be re directed to stay on task. | Student was engaged, worked well with others. | Engaged, showed listening skills, participated and worked cooperatively with others. |
| Organization | Unorganized, unprepared. | Some answers are correct, organizartion needs to improve. | Organized and most of the answers were correct. | Well organized with all correct answers. |
| Completion | All problems/majority problems left blank. | All but three of the problems were solved. | All but one of the problems were solved. | All problems completed. |
