Introduction
Finding the Main Idea of a story can be hard sometimes! With a partner, you will be reading a few books and playing a few games to help you have a better understanding of finding the main idea and supporting details of a story!
Task
After reading "Let's Work Together!" with a partner, discuss with your partner some things from the story.
-Who were the characters in the story?
-Where did this story take place?
-What did they do together?
-Why is it better to work together sometimes?
When you are finished discussing these questions, with your partner, write down or draw a picture of an example of another way working together can be helpful.

You will be working with a partner to practice finding the main idea of passages and then working together to find the main idea.
Let’s GO:
- Ask a friend to be your partner.
- Look at the websites provided about main idea and supporting details. (Some are learning games, some are really good information about main idea.)
- Think about the meaning of main idea with your partner.
- Once you are finished with the websites, take a paper passage from the main idea bin, read the passage, highlight the main idea and underline the key supporting details.
- Read your findings to a friend.
