"Life of a Can"- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

INTRODUCTION

About 100 billion aluminum cans are made in the U.S. each year.  So, what happens to most of them?  The powerpoint will explain more about the process of recycling and what you can do to help.  Listen to Andrew Ference from the Edmonton Oilers explain what happens when we don't recycle.  

It is your job to help spread the word about aluminum recycling and reusual in order to reduce the amount of waste.  You and your advertisement team have been chosen create a model of a new product or innovation constructed from using recycled aluminum materials.  Then, as a team, you will present your product or innovation in the form of an advertisement.

Task

TASK

You and your team will investigate the properties and structure of a common product constructed at least partitally from aluminum.  You will work in small groups, and each person in the group will take on a role of a company that uses pre-existing aluminum to create new products and innovations.  Each group will construct a model of their product using recycled aluminum materials.  Students will present their findings and product to the class in form of an advertisement.
